The Greenwich Art Society is offering:

ACRYLIC PAINTING FOR EVERYONE - ALL LEVELS

JOE FAMA

7 TUESDAYS

July 8 - August 19

10:00 am to 12:00 pm

Students will discover the fundamentals needed to capture form, shading, composition, and study values with the three primary colors. Choices of subject matter range from figures, landscape, or still life. You will also be learning how to set up a full palette and how to create a strong compositional design. Students will learn to see and express color, values and the illusion of depth as they take their own photos as a point of inspiration to create their own interpretation rather than a copy.  Classes will include lectures, demonstrations, as well as individual instruction. If you are new to the class, please bring a drawing or painting as a sample of your skill level to the first class.

Max. 8 students.

About the Instructor:

Allyson Montana is a painter and mixed media artist working in the New York City area and a member of the Katonah Museum Artist’s Association (KMAA). Allyson’s work explores unwritten stories from the archaeological past and plays with the metaphor of interpretation, narrative, and authorship. She layers media, paint, and other natural materials in her paintings to deliberately obscure mark-making and meaning. Allyson has over twenty years’ experience in teaching both art and art history and is currently a part-time faculty member at Teachers College, Columbia University.

The mission of the Katonah Museum Artists' Association (KMAA) is to develop and enhance an artistic community by providing exhibition opportunities, educational programs, and venues for networking while supporting the activities and exhibitions of the Katonah Museum of Art. For more information, please visit here.

The Katonah Museum of Art is proud to be a grantee of ArtsWestchester with funding made possible by Westchester County government with the support of County Executive George Latimer.

The Katonah Museum of Art’s programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
