Eco-STEAM invites curious minds to engage with the natural world around them through hands-on creative projects. They’ll discover how the sun powers our planet, experiment with art and science, and investigate nature—using all their senses.

Over five discovery-filled days, young creators will:

• Explore texture, build with natural materials, and create tactile art.
• Play with sound mapping—and turn the sounds of nature into artwork.
• Make plant-based crafts using herbs.
• Design kinetic sculptures powered by the wind.
• Craft musical instruments from natural materials and compose music.
• Experiment and cook delicious, nature-based recipes.
• Share their discoveries in an interactive exhibit—where science, nature, and art meet. 

Through creative play and collaboration, kids will forge lasting friendships. Along the way, they'll discover new passions and gain essential life skills. No experience needed—just a love for exploring. Watch their world expand!

This is a small group program. Space is limited.

Make music, jam with friends, and feel the thrill of being in a band

Ages: 10+

Dates: Monday, July 28 – Friday, August 1 (final concert at 2pm on Friday)

Time: 9am–3pm

Teaching artist: Sam Guglielmino

Partnership: Mad River Music

Fee: $350

In this fun, five-day program, young musicians will play, sing, and create music together. With the guidance of teaching artist Sam Guglielmino of Mad River Music, they’ll explore diverse music styles, rehearse as a band, and prepare for a live performance in AMP’s main gallery on Friday, August 1, at 2pm. Musicians can bring their own instruments or try new ones—no experience needed! No audition is required.

In this five-day music program, your young musician will:

• Play and sing in a real band.
• Learn favorite songs—pop, rock, and R&B.
• Be mentored by a pro musician.
• Strike a balance between creative freedom and structure—to find their musical stride.
• Rehearse, refine their techniques, and build confidence.
• Learn how to jam with other musicians.
• Try new instruments and rhythms.
• Discover what they really can do!

This is a small group program. Space is limited.

Friday, August 1st, at 7:00 PM, 2nd Home welcomes back Shawn Taylor (http://www.shawntaylortunes.com/index.html), and we're looking forward to having him back! Shawn serves up original “Wandering Roots” (genre weaving Americana) on acoustic guitar, harmonica, vocals, ukulele and foot drums, in addition to some great covers. He’s released four CDs of original ‘wandering roots’ music, toured since 2008 and been acclaimed for his songs and short stories. Everyone had a great time the last time he was here, and we are sure this time will be no different.

Friday, August 8th, at 7PM, John Mayock (https://johnmayockmusic.com/home) returns to 2nd Home. John is a singer, song stylist, and writer with deep roots in Folk, Rock, and Country music. An accomplished guitarist who also plays harmonica, mandolin, and piano, John has shared the stage with diverse artists including Greg Allman, NRBQ, Dar Williams, and Jonathan Edwards. His live performances reflect his love of music, and his repertoire is extensive and unique. As he likes to say, "It's all about the song." Come down and enjoy!

On Thursday, August 21st, at 6:30, 2nd Home is thrilled to have award-winning blues artist Danielle Miraglia. Danielle comes armed with a strong steady thumb on an old Gibson and an infectious stomp-box rhythm with tunes ranging from heart-felt to socially conscious that will move both your heart and hips. Her latest “Bright Shining Stars” debuted at #15 on the Billboard Blues Charts. Cascade Blues Association calls it "... tough as rawhide, but smooth as blended whiskey." Released Oct 2020 with Vizztone Label Group, it's a solo acoustic folk/blues record that highlights the one-woman-band live sound she’s honed over the years, featuring guest appearances by talented friends Laurence Scudder, Peter Parcek and Richard "Rosy" Rosenblatt. It includes originals as well as a collection of songs she’s been covering at live shows over the years, paying homage to influences like Big Bill Broonzy, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin and more, plus the title track "Bright Shining Stars," written by her husband, Tom Bianchi. Saturday, August 23rd, at 7 PM, 2nd Home welcomes back Orb Mellon with Dave Robbins. Orb Mellon (https://www.facebook.com/orbmellon/) is the blues moniker of Mike Malone, founder and guitarist of the seminal 1990s indie rock band and Sony/Epic recording artists Dirt Merchants. Orb Mellon mines the raw energy of 20th Century American roots music, particularly whiskey fueled house party delta blues. They are one of the most dynamic performers we've had, and we don't use "don't miss" lightly. We are very much looking forward to having them back!

Ian grew up in Connecticut with seventeen entertaining and musical brothers and sisters. Outrageous family dinner time jam sessions, with instruments like "salt shaker" and "nose" gave Ian a love for music and performance. Ian is a director and teacher for the National Guitar Workshop, and a full time, traveling singer/songwriter, He has honed the sound, communication, experience, and feels, of a powerful live performance. His goal is to have you leave with your spirits raised.

On Thursday, September 4th, at 6:30, 2nd Home is thrilled to have the Pat Marafiote Trio, featuring Theresa Wright and Steve Clarke, back at 2nd Home. This is one fantastic trio - do yourself a favor and come check them out.

Pat's background includes several genres of music as a professional keyboard artist. His musical resume spans decades, including multiple tours with jazz, blues, R&B, and rock acts, including some of the best-known artists of our generation. Bassist Steve Clarke has performed with the two- time Grammy nominated jazz flautist Sherry Winston, Marion Meadows, TomBrown, Victor Fields, and R&B innovators The Coasters, The Drifters, Mary Wells, Sam & Dave, and Ben E. His show is versatile and he has played almost every type of room from nice background music to concerts to houserockin' clubs. He has played all over the Eastern US, Europe, Canada and the Virgin Islands for many years and was a finalist at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis TN. He was also was recently inducted into the CT Blues Hall of Fame.

Friday, September 12th, at 7:00 PM, 2nd Home welcomes HannaH's Field for their first time here. HannaH's Field brings Reggae Wrapped Roots music to "audiences who are open to the idea of sound waves and music as a form of sonic medicine." HannaH has been nominated in Connecticut for many years as “Best Female Vocalist”. HannaH’s vocals have been described as, “evoking a blend of Joan Baez and Grace Slick or a somewhat subdued Janis Joplin”. The bands last 2 releases, Revolutionary Soldiers and Cyrstal Vision have had songs in regular rotation on SiriusXM and their music charted #11 on Relix radio chart.
