Celebrating the year-long loan of three Georgia O’Keeffe paintings, this exhibition unites the Mattatuck Museum’s collection with O’Keeffe’s life and work through common themes.

 These unique spotlight exhibitions celebrate the year-long loan of three Georgia O’Keeffe paintings and will unite the Mattatuck Museum’s collection with O’Keeffe’s life and work through common themes, creating a unique dialogue between her work and other celebrated artists. Each unique pairing will be curated and narrated by a different member of the Museum’s curatorial department and offer a distinctive perspective on the Mattatuck Collection in relation to the works and story of Georgia O’Keeffe.

Join us for the ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification in-person class and exam. The class runs for approximately 6 hours. Regulatory requirements may vary, be sure to review class schedule for any hour requirements for your state. The exam immediately follows the class. All training materials incorporate the latest information from the most recent FDA Food Code. We use the ServSafe® Manager 7th Edition Revised for all class instructions.

Join in on summer fun at the Mattatuck Museum through our School’s OUT! Summer Adventures Camp. This year we are hosting 6 weeks of summer camp — with new themes and experiences each week. During these week-long camps children will be immersed in the Museum’s galleries while learning about history and developing their art skills with unique materials and techniques.

Rebellious Rhythm: Exploring Puerto Rican History Through Reggaetón

Part 3: Reggaetón as a Political Tool, 2010-present

This final session examines how reggaetón has evolved into a powerful medium for social commentary and political protest, particularly in response to natural disasters, colonial austerity measures, and anti-government uprisings.

Reggaetón music can be heard all over Connecticut, but what can it tell us about Puerto Rican culture and history? Discover the rich history of Reggaetón in Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rican diaspora in Connecticut with this three-part workshop, which will combine historical lectures, interactive activities, listening sessions, and community dialogues. Each session will be led by Nina Vazquez, a public historian and educator who was quoted in a 2023 Rolling Stone magazine article about Bad Bunny’s ‘X100PRE’.

The Philip V. Benevento Fund for Cultural Programs for Adults at the Silas Bronson Library was established in 2016 in honor of Waterbury’s City Historian and former Silas Bronson Library Board member Philip V. Benevento. The fund continues to grow through individual donations made to the Friends of the Silas Bronson Library.

Start your Tuesdays with yoga on the rooftop terrace with experience registered yoga teacher, Alex Capaldo! This All Levels Flow class is open to all levels of experience. In case of inclement weather, class will be moved indoors.

The Derek Piotr Fieldwork Archive was established in 2022 and contains over one thousand folklife audio recordings: ballads, hymns, tales, poems, songs, and interviews. Piotr will join us to talk about his journeys from the United Kingdom to Appalachia to collect recordings and develop the archive.

A museum educator will facilitate storytime and 30 minutes of playtime in the galleries with an opportunity to mingle with other parents and caregivers.

Join us for a free, donation based yoga summer series instructed by Corina Parkmond.

Hosted by NEST at our Love and Care Community Garden located on Burton Street. The series will start on June 21st every Saturday at noon until August 2nd.
