Description

Abundance celebrates nourishment in its many forms: food, labor, community, creativity, and the natural systems that sustain us. Moving beyond simple excess, the exhibition proposes a definition rooted in stewardship, connection, and interdependence. Food becomes a lens through which to examine the unseen forces that shape our lives. Mia Brownell reimagines the still life through the language of science, revealing the biological and cultural systems behind what we eat, while Wende Caporale-Greene honors the farmers, bakers, and food artisans whose work nourishes both body and community.

Expanding this dialogue, Duvian Montoya pays tribute to the immigrant laborers whose often-unseen work sustains our food supply. Constance Old explores the beauty and vulnerability of the oceans while confronting plastic pollution, and photographer Joan Fitzsimmons captures the richness and resilience of the natural world.

Together, these artists reveal abundance as a balance between people, place, labor, and the environment.

Reflecting The Norwalk Art Space's mission of Arts for All, Abundance uses art much like a shared meal—as a catalyst for conversation, empathy, and community. The exhibition invites us to look beyond the visible to recognize the relationships that sustain us, reminding us that true abundance is measured not by what we possess, but by what we cultivate, protect, and share together.
