Presented by Br. Mark D’Alessio

Three Thursdays: May 1, 8, 15 • 6:30PM to 8:00PM • via Zoom

Throughout history, mystics have offered us a map to the depths of the soul, a way of encountering the Divine within and beyond. Their wisdom is not reserved for a chosen few – it’s an invitation for all who long to live with greater depth, presence, and connection with the sacred.

Join Br. Mark for an on-line retreat that will support you to explore four ancient, traditional mystical paths — contemplative stillness, the via positiva of awe and wonder, the via negativa of letting go, and the via creativa of divine expression — each offering a way to encounter God within and our truest self with presence, stillness, and deeper awareness.

Through silence and reflection, poetry, art, and sacred texts, movement and nature, we will enter into the wisdom of mystics like Julian of Norwich, Meister Eckhart, Teresa of Avila, Hildegard de Bingen, Rainer Maria Rilke, Teilhard de Chardin, Thomas Merton, and contemporary mystics Thich Nhat Hanh, Thea Bowman, Ilia Delio and Richard Rohr.

Each Thursday evening, we will explore how their insights can guide us toward a life of greater presence, authenticity, and communion with the Sacred. Other retreat highlights will include guided reflections and teachings on the four mystical paths and the wisdom from eastern and western mystics; contemplative practices such as visio divina, centering prayer and breathwork; eco-spirituality as a mystical practice; sacred writing, creative expression, and journaling exercises; and, shared community conversation and personal integration time.

Whether you’re just beginning to explore the mystical path or have walked it for many years, Br. Mark invites you to join us for this experiential opportunity to deepen your relationship with Divine Mystery, your inner self, and the outer world. Come as you are ready to listen, ready to wonder, ready to journey into the heart of Being. All are welcome.

Today, we are in a monumental struggle. What seems like an extreme political power play is considerably more significant than that. Beneath the endless debates about policies, economics, religion, and culture, something more profound is unfolding—a spiritual reckoning—a call to action.

In the face of global chaos, we must embrace our interconnectedness and take meaningful action while remaining strong.

In this workshop, Keeping Your Sanity, we will share and explore strategies for caring for our mental and spiritual health, strengthening our resilience, and remaining informed while contributing in ways that will make a difference.

Please bring pens and notebooks.

Lunch is included.

Have you ever opened a drawer and found a set of old rosary beads? Maybe when you were a kid, poking around in your grandmother’s or auntie’s things… tucked in a jewelry box or at the bottom of a purse. I remember holding them in my hands, not really knowing what they were for, but feeling something. A wonder. A kind of quiet pull.

Even now, I help people clean out rooms and reorganize closets, and these beads—these “roses”—keep showing up. And the interesting thing? It’s not just the devout. I find them in the homes of people who would never call themselves religious. So what is it about the rosary that lingers?

Why can’t we quite let go of it?

And maybe more importantly—why does it keep calling us back?

In this one-day circle, we’ll be gathering at the beautiful Wisdom House in Litchfield to explore The Way of the Rose: The Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary by Clark Strand and Perdita Finn. We’ll sit in conversation, wonder together, share stories, and open ourselves to what the ancient rhythm of these beads might be saying to us now.

You don’t need to have a rosary practice. You don’t need to be Catholic or religious or know anything more than the feeling that there’s something deeper here.

This isn’t a lecture. It’s a gathering of hearts.

Bring your curiosity, your questions, your stories, and—if you have them—your beads.

Let’s see what blooms on this path of the rose.

Lunch is included.

Presented by Rt. Rev. Br. Mark D’Alessio

In the spirit of St. Francis, who saw all creation as kin and every moment as sacred, this retreat invites us to slow down, listen deeply, and immerse ourselves in the wisdom of the natural world. Rooted in Franciscan mindfulness, we will explore how nature reveals the Divine and calls us into presence, compassion, and interconnection.

"If you have some in humanity who exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, we will have a humanity who will deal likewise with their fellow creatures…” (St. Francis of Assisi)

Central to our day will be St. Francis’ Canticle of the Creatures and a 21st-century Cosmic Canticle adaptation by Br. Mark, expanding Francis’ vision to include the unfolding universe and sacredness of all life. Through guided nature bathing (forest therapy), embodied prayer, Eco Divina, sacred listening, and reflection on nature’s wisdom — including insights from The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben and The Overstory by Richard Powers — we will open ourselves to creation as sacred text as a living parable of resilience, beauty, and divine mystery.

This retreat is open to seekers, nature lovers, contemplatives, and any and all who are longing to reconnect with the sacredness of creation. Whether you are grounded in Franciscan spirituality or simply curious, you are welcome. It is especially ideal for those seeking a day of re-centering, mindfulness, and renewal.

Join Br. Mark in person and come slow down, listen, and invite the sacred wisdom of creation to awaken the Canticle within you. Creation is an outpouring of divine love and a wellspring of healing. Join us for a retreat day that offers space to breathe deeply, move gently, pray, sing, reflect, and reconnect with the holy presence alive in the natural world — as St. Francis once did and as the earth invites us to do today.

Lunch is included.

Presented by Rev. Dr. Eileen Epperson

We all react differently to the loss of a loved one. Whether it be from old age, terminal illness or accident, we are never prepared for the tsunami of feelings and the shattered sense of life. In this support group, “Grieving With Wisdom,” we take one day at a time accompanied by a caring facilitator and others who know what this journey is like. You are not alone. There are resources to help you along your journey.

This is an 8-session grief support group starting Monday, May 19 through July 7. Participants are urged to commit to all 8 weeks to receive the full benefit of the content. Signing up for May 19 registers you for all sessions.

10:30 AM-11:45 AM

We will gather within the comforting space of Wisdom House with a seasoned facilitator and have the opportunity to speak and listen and discover we are not alone at all.

“This group means the world to me at present. It is a safe place to come and let my real feelings out. I don’t have to pretend to be stronger than I am. I can just be myself.”

A grief group participant after eight months.

Eight Mondays: May 19-July 7

limited to 12 participants

This program is offered on a donation basis, and your generosity is deeply appreciated.

Donations can be made at online registration via the Wisdom Fund or in-person upon arrival.
