Description
Alofft Gallery presents Holding the Line, a solo exhibition of new abstract paintings by artist Mia Eriksson, on view October 10 through November 1, 2026. An opening reception with the artist will be held Saturday, October 10, from 3:30–6:00 p.m.
Working with acrylics and mixed media, Eriksson incorporates natural materials, including beach sand, coffee grounds, plaster, bark, wood stains, and charcoal to create richly layered surfaces.
In Holding the Line, Eriksson explores the many lines that shape our lives: the lines we face, the lines we draw and the lines we live with. These lines mark where we stand, what we protect, and how much we choose to reveal.
Within each painting, Eriksson has placed a “holding line”, sometimes subtle, sometimes overt, and sometimes concealed beneath layers of color and texture. The line represents the point at which we refuse to give up ground, compromise our principles, or surrender under pressure. The holding line is also a place of shared sacrifice, support, and commitment to the people, places, beliefs, and natural world we love. Collectively, the paintings invite viewers to consider a deeply personal question: What are you willing to hold the line for?
