Getting to Know Groundhogs

With Groundhog Day coming up on February 2, let’s celebrate the creature that inspired the holiday! White Memorial Conservation Center and The Children’s Museum in West Hartford are teaming up to teach families some fun facts and folklore about groundhogs. After reading a delightful groundhog story together, you’ll get to meet a live groundhog up close! We’ll explore what these amazing creatures are capable of, as well as what they may be less capable of (i.e. predicting weather based on their shadows). Finally, each family will craft their own sundial, a tool that uses shadows cast by the Sun to tell us about the time of day. Meet in the A.B. Ceder Room. Advanced registration is required. Space is limited. FREE, but donations are welcomed!
