Join us for Story Time on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 for new books, free play, and fun crafts!

Immerse yourself in the soothing and transformative experience of a Sound Bath with Gong. This unique class combines the ancient practice of sound healing with the powerful vibrations of a gong and other instruments, offering a holistic approach to relaxation and well-being.

What to Expect:

*Guided Meditation: Begin with a brief guided meditation to help you settle into the space and prepare for the sound journey.

*Sound Immersion: Lie down comfortably as the facilitator plays the gong and other instruments, creating an immersive soundscape. The vibrations and tones of the gong promote deep relaxation, reduce stress, and support mental clarity.

Music and Rhyme for Children from Birth to 3s! A program for babies and their caretakers that incorporates music, rhythm, stories, and nursery rhymes to spur language development, body awareness, pre-reading skills, self-confidence, and cooperation. Gathering at 10:15, the program begins at 10:30.

Kids Sewing Workshop: Sew a Playing Card Holder (Grades 4-5) | June 17, 3:30-5:00 pm

Summer is an excellent time to play card games with friends. Make it easier to track all the cards with a handmade playing card holder! In this beginner-friendly workshop, participants will learn how to thread a sewing machine, sew straight stitches with an accurate seam allowance, pivot around corners, and sew topstitching as they create a practical item that’s also great for gifting.

Jump into summer at the David M. Hunt Library’s Summer Reading Kickoff Party on June 17th at 3:00pm! Join us for ice cream, dancing, and more as we celebrate the beginning of summer and the library’s summer programming. Families are invited to bring a blanket or chairs and hang out on the library lawn. Sign-ups for our summer reading program will be available from June through August. Enjoy an acclaimed movie taken from a celebrated book!

Small Things Like These, the acclaimed 2024 historical drama directed by Tim Mielants and adapted by Enda Walsh from Claire Keegan’s Booker Prize–nominated novella, offers a powerful meditation on moral courage and institutional silence. Set in 1985 in a small Irish town, the film follows coal merchant Bill Furlong (Cillian Murphy). He uncovers disturbing truths about the local convent’s treatment of young women, echoing the real-life atrocities of Ireland’s Magdalene laundries.

In-Person & on Zoom discussing her latest novel: The Lost Library of Dollhouses

About the Author:

A native New Englander, Elise Hooper spent several years writing for television and online news outlets before getting an MA and teaching high-school literature and history. Her debut novel, The Other Alcott, was a nominee for the 2017 Washington Book Award. More novels—Learning to See, Fast Girls, and Angels of the Pacific—followed, all centered on the lives of extraordinary but overlooked historical women. Hooper now lives in Seattle with her husband and two teenage daughters.

Pick up your first BINGO sheet, do a craft, have a snack, play some games, and have some fun! Kids of all ages are welcome to participate. Registration opens for July’s Library Club (formerly known as Library Camp), a weekly 2-hour drop-off for kids entering Grades K-4 (you must register for each individual week, space is limited).
