Renowned cartographer and artist Scott Reinhard will discuss his current installation at David M. Hunt Library featuring a 16-foot long map of the Northwest Corner. The maps were created using USGS elevation data and rendered literally and as colorful abstracts printed on 24x24-inch Tyvek and cyanotype paper.

The David M. Hunt Library and Out in the Corner will host local author Eric Schnall, in conversation with Dan Shaw, on Saturday, June 14th at 5 pm at the library. Eric is a Tony Award-winning producer and author of the novel “I Make Envy on Your Disco” which was the winner of the Barbara DiBernard Prize in fiction. "I Make Envy on Your Disco" tells the story of Sam Singer, a New York art advisor, who travels to Berlin for a gallery opening and finds himself drawn to the city's history, energy and culture. The novel explores Sam's midlife anxieties as he encounters new connections, friendships, and possibilities in a city that is both a reflection of his own journey and a place of vibrant cultural rediscovery. Books will be available for sale and signing, and refreshments will be served.

Come discover the art of tapestry weaving with fiber artist Gail Cunningham O'Donnell on Wednesday, June 18th from 2-5 pm. In this class you will learn the basics of tapestry, including what the different tools are and how they are used, how to warp on, various weaving techniques, and how to finish a piece. No experience is necessary. All materials are provided, and students will leave with a small loom and their own set of weaving tools. This class is for adults and mature teens of all skill levels, and is limited to 12 participants. Gail Cunningham O’Donnell received her BFA in Fibers from Oregon College of Art and Craft and is currently pursuing her masters degree at SUNY New Paltz. Gail will have an exhibition on the library’s ArtWall in September 2025

Story Time
A Community History of Falls Village in Stories, Pictures and Objects. Join writer and Falls Village resident Mark Gozonsky for a six month learning by publishing workshop centered around telling Falls Village stories. Beginning in January participants will meet at the library once a month to share ideas and work on their stories in community. The group will meet on the fourth Thursday of the month at 11 am. The workshop will culminate in June with a book and a community celebration and reading. This workshop is open to all ages.
Community Writing Workshop
On Thursday, June 26th at 5:30 pm the David M. Hunt Library will host local author Karen Chase. “Two Tales: Jamali Kamali and ZundelState, Chase’s most recent book, was published in May 2025. Jamali Kamali is a book-length poem about two men who lived in 16th century India, a fictional account of their love, longing, separation, and death. ZundelState, a novella in verse, takes place a thousand years in the future in a repressive land where history is banned, and dreaming has vanished. Karen Chase is the author of four volumes of poetry, and four books of non-fiction. Chase and her husband, the painter Paul Graubard, live in the hills of Western Massachusetts.
