Bring your reading tracker character sheet and join us as we flesh out our characters! We'll have art supplies for those who would like to draw or physically build their characters, and paper for those who would like to write their character's story. Feel free to dress up as your character, but that is not mandatory. For kids entering Grades 5 and up only, please. Attendance at this event counts for one point towards the summer’s eight point goal. Ready to race or sink with style? Join us for one of our most creative (and hilarious) events of the summer: the Cardboard Regatta. Build a boat, grab your paddles, and see if you can make it across the Besse Pool before your cardboard creation gives out.

Open to all ages (you just need to be able to swim)

Teams must have at least 2 people

Team fee:

• Kids: $5
• Adults: $8
• Spectators: $2

How it works:

• Build your boat at home using only cardboard, duct tape, caulk, glue, and water safe paint
• Bring it to the pool ready to race
• Boats must be paddled by hand or cardboard oars, no motors, or store-bought paddles
• PFD's are required
• Boats must not be taller than the rider’s shoulders

Get creative—design your boat, come up with a theme, and show up ready for some fun. It’s a great event for families, friends, and anyone up for a challenge.

Join your library staff at the Golden Falcon Field (20 North Main St., Kent, CT) for our Outdoor Sensory Play Party to celebrate the end of Summer Reading. Bring your final BINGO cards for a chance to win your age group’s prize! Join us for an exciting week of skateboarding at Let’s Skate’s hands-on summer camp! This 3-hour-per-day camp is open to all skill levels and offers a safe, fun, and encouraging environment where kids can grow their skills and confidence on a skateboard.

Beginners will learn the essentials—how to set up their board, proper stance, pushing, balance, and riding techniques. More advanced skaters will have the chance to level up with tricks like ollies, dropping in, and other intermediate skills based on their ability.

Each day includes structured warm-ups, guided instruction, games, one-on-one coaching, and plenty of free skate time to practice and play.

Skateboards, helmets, and pads are all provided, but campers are welcome to bring their own gear if they prefer. Campers should also bring a water bottle and a snack each day.

Whether your child is stepping on a board for the first time or looking to refine their skills, this camp is the perfect place to learn, progress, and have fun with new friends!
