The Morris Land Trust's annual meeting on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 7 pm in the Morris Town Hall Community Room features a talk by MLT board member Will O'Meara "Farming in Morris, Connecticut in 2025 and Beyond"

Will is one of the owners and operators of Hungry Reaper Farm, an eight-acre organic vegetable farm in Morris, CT. He has been farming in Connecticut since 2011, worked for a regional nonprofit on land access and farm succession, and served on a number of farming and conservation oriented boards, including the State of CT's Farmland Preservation Advisory Board, Working Lands Alliance, and the New CT Farmer Alliance. In his presentation, he will address both the joys and challenges of running a small farm in Morris, CT, as well as some opportunities to ensure a bright future for our working lands. 


 Refreshments will be served after the meeting.

  • Share their discoveries in an interactive exhibit—where science, nature, and art meet.

Creative explorations of nature, science, and art

Ages: 7–11

Dates: Monday, July 28 – Friday, August 1

Time: 8:30am–3pm

Eco-STEAM invites curious minds to engage with the natural world around them through hands-on creative projects. They’ll discover how the sun powers our planet, experiment with art and science, and investigate nature—using all their senses.

Over five discovery-filled days, young creators will:

  • Explore texture, build with natural materials, and create tactile art.
  • Play with sound mapping—and turn the sounds of nature into artwork.
  • Make plant-based crafts using herbs.
  • Design kinetic sculptures powered by the wind.
  • Craft musical instruments from natural materials and compose music.
  • Experiment and cook delicious, nature-based recipes.
  • Share their discoveries in an interactive exhibit—where science, nature, and art meet.

This astronomy program is organized by members of the Litchfield Hills Amateur Astronomy Club and the Mattatuck Astronomical Society. Weather permitting, there will be star gazing after the program. 8:00 p.m., A. B. Ceder Room. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. You are invited to bring your own telescope or binoculars. FREE… Donations will be accepted to help defray the Conservation Center’s programming expenses.
