Duke Ellington is recognized as one of the most important composers in jazz history, as well as a renowned jazz pianist, band leader and arranger.

Join Jim Scianna and Mark Templeton in this engaging and educational concert featuring such great classics as It Don't Mean a Thing, Satin Doll and Take the "A" Train.


About the Musicians:

Jim Scianna - Acoustic Bassist

Jim performs professionally as a free-lance musician in the Connecticut/New York area and in ensembles ranging from duets to big bands and orchestras. A graduate of Western Connecticut State University with a masters in music education, Jim also attended Berklee College of Music. He has taught music in Region#15 Connecticut public school system for 28 years and has been fortunate to have worked and studied with fine musicians and educators in all styles of music.

Mark Templeton - Pianist

Mark has toured and performed with trumpet legends Freddie Hubbard, Dizzy Gillespie, Woody Shaw and Clark Terry, as well as saxophonists Kenny Garrett, Gerry Bergonzi and Frank Foster. He has played at the Nice and Berlin Jazz Festivals, the World Expo in Seville, Spain and numerous other festivals and tours. His arranging and recording credits include work for Major League Baseball, Hall and Oates, PBS, and Wishbone Ash.
