Description

Anne Gill wanted to get to know her grandfather better. But he has been dead for over 20 years. Luckily, her grandfather is prolific New Yorker staff writer, Brendan Gill, who left behind a mountain of writing; from theater criticisms to coffee table books, novels to poems. Brendan was an exceptional storyteller, and as an actor and voice-over artist, Anne tells stories for a living. To try and discover more about the grandfather she didn’t get to know well in life, she began recording his short stories from the collection Ways of Loving. She wondered if, where, and how Brendan put himself into his fiction. The process asked more questions than it answered. Anne’s presentation My Grandfather’s Stories: Meeting Grandfather in his Fiction is the culmination of a creative collaboration across generations that asks, “How do we tell our own stories? Who tells them when we’re gone? And how do they change within a family over time?”

Registration is always appreciated.
