Passport to Connecticut Libraries    April 1-30, 2026

Your library card opens the world to you through physical books, audiobooks, music CDs, DVDs—as well as downloadable or streaming versions of the same products. Now let your library card open the doors of Connecticut libraries by participating in the Passport to Connecticut Libraries Program!

To celebrate National Library Week during April, we invite you to visit all of the participating Connecticut public libraries. Each library has its own architecture, vibe, and collection to explore and browse! The program is open to adults and children, and the hope is that it will encourage residents to explore the amazing diversity of our public libraries.

To begin, visit the Bill Memorial Library to pick up your Passport. Take your Passport along as you visit other participating libraries. At each visit, show your Passport, and then the library staff will stamp your Passport and may give you a small gift. (Please note: Not all Connecticut Libraries are participating and not all participating locations are giving gifts! Please be kind to library staff.)

If you visit at least five participating libraries and return your Passport to the Bill Memorial Library or any other participating library by May 11, 2026, you will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $200 gift card. This is a state-wide contest in which six winners will be selected: one adult and one child from a random drawing from all who visited at least five libraries, one adult and one child from a random drawing from all who visited more than 25 libraries and one adult and one child who visited the most libraries.

The Bill Memorial Library hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM; Wednesday and Friday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM; and Saturday, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Our doors are open for browsing, copying, printing, scanning and faxing. Computers are available with no appointment necessary. Browse our latest book additions at www.billmemorial.org/new-arrivals .

The Bill Memorial Library is located at 240 Monument Street in Groton City, near the Groton Monument and Fort Griswold. The library turned 130 years old in 2020 and has an extensive collection of books and media for children, teens, and adults, as well as programming for all ages!
