Description
Max Coyer was a Windsor-born artist best known for painting in a style he described as “synthetic art,” an amalgamation of academic and modernist movements. This retrospective (Max passed away in 1988 at the age of 34) will focus on the importance of his work in relation to art itself, and highlight how the creative process is one layer on top of a deep strata built over the history of art. His own paintings extol the artists that went before him, and we plan to include the artwork of those he in turn influenced, the Max Coyer Scholarship recipients.
The Opening Reception will be on September 19, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Windsor Art Center, 40 Mechanic Street in Windsor, CT.
