Introducing SPARK an event by TradesUP. This event, formerly Touch a Trade, will return to the grounds of the Connecticut Antique Machinery Association and the Eric Sloane Museum on October 25th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 31 Kent Cornwall Road in Kent, CT.

TradesUP's goal is to SPARK interest in working with one’s hands and the FREE event will offer both youth and adults the opportunity to safely participate in trades, crafts, and self-sufficiency skills with their own hands.

Planned activities include carpentry, woodworking, masonry, welding, plumbing, electrical wiring, and planting a garden, along with arts, crafts, and other activities for younger attendees.

Music will be performed and local food and beverages will be on offer for participants of all ages to purchase and enjoy.

TradesUp is a non-profit organization, based in Kent, with a mission to support the development of the next generation of trades and craftspeople. Presenters, sponsors and volunteers are currently being sought for the event.

Saturday, October 25th, at 7:00 PM, DenMarJamz featuring Dennis Marolda, Peter Byron, and David Wolter returns to 2nd Home, and we're thrilled to have them back. We had a great time the last time they were here, and no doubt this time will be the same. Great music, food, drinks, and fun!

Thursday, October 30th, at 6:30 PM, 2nd Home welcomes the fantastic Dave Robbins & Ryan Newman Blues Machine as a new addition to our Thursday Jazz/Blue series. You may have already seen Dave here with Orb Mellon, and is so you know he is a killer harmonica player. This time he is joined by guitar virtuoso sensation Ryan Newman. Ryan received the first ever New England Music Hall of Fame Best New Artist Award. Ryan Newman plays with the Kosher Kid Dave Robbins and the Amplifiers, Righteous Continental, and Justin Chan and the Vices. We are thrilled to add them to our lineup, and hope you will come down and check them out on what we know will be an evening of great blues music.

Suburban Escape Plan is a local band from the Farmington Valley that performs as both a 5 piece band and as a Trio. The Trio consists of Nat Brinn on bass and vocals, Shack Tiffany on acoustic guitar and Mike Zapatka on lead vocals and acoustic guitar. Their song catalog features the best of 70s icons Neil Young, Pink Floyd and the Grateful Dead, and some of the best artists from the 80s and 90s including, Goo Goo Dolls, Oasis, REM, Nirvana, Alice In Chains and Third Eye Blind. He’s released four CDs of original ‘wandering roots’ music, toured since 2008 and been acclaimed for his songs and short stories. In 2018 a group of musicians got together for a once a month Dead night at the Captain Daniel Packer inn in Mystic,CT. It turned out to be a seriously good time that translated to more shows, more fun and Mystic Dead was born.

Deep dives into all things Grateful Dead coupled by the freedom to remain true to their own creative individuality has been and will always be the mantra of all 6 members of Mystic Dead.

Thursday, December 4th, at 6:30 PM, 2nd Home welcomes back Ramblin' Dan Stevens (https://www.danstevens.net/) . Dan plays an eclectic mix of acoustic finger style blues. His show is versatile and he has played almost every type of room from nice background music to concerts to houserockin' clubs. He has played all over the Eastern US, Europe, Canada and the Virgin Islands for many years and was a finalist at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis TN. He was also was recently inducted into the CT Blues Hall of Fame.
