Cars for Kids Automobile Show

October 12, 2025 Rain Date: October 19, 2025

Supported by the Litchfield Hills Historical Automobile Club and the Valley Collector Car Club, the 12th Annual Cars for Kids Automobile Show will be held at CJR in Litchfield, 550 Goshen Road. 

Gates open for show cars at 8 AM. Entries are $10 per car. Dashboard plaques will be given to the first 100 paid registrants and exhibitor gift bags to the first 200 paid registrants. Judging will be from 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM and more than 20 trophies will be awarded at 2:30 PM. Spectator parking opens at 10 AM. Admission is $5 per car. 

Breakfast sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecued chicken sandwiches and hot and cold beverages will be sold. A scrumptious, signature bake sale will be conducted by the Litchfield Aid of CJR.

Children and families will enjoy farm tours and hay rides. Visitors may purchase eggs, chrysanthemums, and produce, including, pumpkins, gourds and squash grown by students, at CJR’s roadside Farm Market.  Products from other vocational classes, including culinary arts, woodshop, fine and creative arts, and power technology will also be featured.

Proceeds from this event will support CJR’s care, treatment and education services for children, youth and families in locations throughout the state.

An accomplished guitarist who also plays harmonica, mandolin, and piano, John has shared the stage with diverse artists including Greg Allman, NRBQ, Dar Williams, and Jonathan Edwards. You will swear you are watching the master himself, as Robert Neary and the band perform 20 of Neil Diamond’s greatest hits. Songs like “Cherry Cherry”, “I Am, I Said”, “I’m a Believer”, “Solitary Man”, “Holly Holy”, “Coming to America”, “Sweet Caroline” and so many more. Between songs, Neary shares the stories behind the music, drawing from Neil’s own interviews, quotes, and autobiographies. With a surprise finale that will leave you absolutely breathless, So Good! The Neil Diamond Experience is guaranteed to leave you speechless!

Born and raised in East Meadow, Long Island, NY, Robert Neary gained immediate success as an actor, when he was 20 years old, with a guest star role in the Television series “Fame”, and then opposite Jason Bateman in the film, “Teen Wolf Too”. He has since gone on to guest star in over 50 television shows, including “Criminal Minds”, “Sons of Anarchy”, “The Closer”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, ” Blue Bloods”, “Justified”, “The Fosters”, “FBI: Most Wanted”, “Weeds”, “Medium” “NCIS” and “NCIS New Orleans”. He landed his first Broadway show in 1996, starring in “Smokey Joe’s Café”, and then toured as the evil Zoser in Elton John’s Broadway hit “Aida”. He understudied the lead role of Sonny in the Broadway smash, “A Bronx Tale, The Musical”.

Robert grew up listening, mimicking, and creating his style to only 2 people in the music world. Elvis Presley and Neil Diamond. It has been a deep passion, to one day perform and put together a tribute show to Neil Diamond like none other. And here it is.

Set in the little town of Anatevka, the story centers on a poor milkman, Tevye, and his five daughters. As Czarist Russia encroaches upon the small-knit community, Tevye struggles to cope with the changing times and uphold his traditional values. As his three older daughters rebel, Tevye is forced to choose between tradition and family. Fiddler is the perfect mix of audience-pleasing humor and heart.

Introducing SPARK an event by TradesUP. This event, formerly Touch a Trade, will return to the grounds of the Connecticut Antique Machinery Association and the Eric Sloane Museum on October 25th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 31 Kent Cornwall Road in Kent, CT.

TradesUP's goal is to SPARK interest in working with one’s hands and the FREE event will offer both youth and adults the opportunity to safely participate in trades, crafts, and self-sufficiency skills with their own hands.

Planned activities include carpentry, woodworking, masonry, welding, plumbing, electrical wiring, and planting a garden, along with arts, crafts, and other activities for younger attendees.

Music will be performed and local food and beverages will be on offer for participants of all ages to purchase and enjoy.

TradesUp is a non-profit organization, based in Kent, with a mission to support the development of the next generation of trades and craftspeople. Presenters, sponsors and volunteers are currently being sought for the event.

Saturday, October 25th, at 7:00 PM, DenMarJamz featuring Dennis Marolda, Peter Byron, and David Wolter returns to 2nd Home, and we're thrilled to have them back. We had a great time the last time they were here, and no doubt this time will be the same. Great music, food, drinks, and fun!

Ryan received the first ever New England Music Hall of Fame Best New Artist Award. Ryan Newman plays with the Kosher Kid Dave Robbins and the Amplifiers, Righteous Continental, and Justin Chan and the Vices. Suburban Escape Plan is a local band from the Farmington Valley that performs as both a 5 piece band and as a Trio. The Trio consists of Nat Brinn on bass and vocals, Shack Tiffany on acoustic guitar and Mike Zapatka on lead vocals and acoustic guitar. Their song catalog features the best of 70s icons Neil Young, Pink Floyd and the Grateful Dead, and some of the best artists from the 80s and 90s including, Goo Goo Dolls, Oasis, REM, Nirvana, Alice In Chains and Third Eye Blind.
