Kateland Kelly, the author of Sending Secular Prayers: How to Survive Medical Gaslighting, has practiced oncology, primary care, occupational medicine, emergency medicine, and internal medicine since 2010. She will define different types of care (urgent/emergency versus primary versus specialty), medical gaslighting, and discuss how dismissing patients leads to poor patient outcomes and what people can do to be proactive about preventing this happening to them. She will also read from her book and detail how to get clinicians to actually LISTEN to you when you are speaking to them. It's an ongoing battle for patients to not only understand their clinicians, but for clinicians to understand their patients. Each attendee will receive a handout with the definitions and action points they can use to create their History of Present Illness to ensure their medical story is preserved with accuracy.

Do you know the stories of how your ancestors came to America? What about the ones left behind? NOTES TO THE MOTHERLAND is a spellbinding psychological thriller that unearths the hidden experiences of Paul Rajeckas’ family during WWII, turning one son’s search for his immigrant past into a gripping theatrical journey.
Playing a multitude of characters in this riveting one-man show, Rajeckas blends physical theater with a darkly incisive portrait of the 21st-century immigrant experience. This transformative performance brings the audience center stage into a powerful exploration of identity, history, and the secrets that shape us—an unmissable experience for anyone seeking to understand who we are and how we got here.
